Happy New Year!!!

Ok. This is what I had in mind for the MFT Guest Designer Contest. I entered twice this month because, apart for wanting this prize so much, I thought that the first card I made for the Wednesday MFT challenge could work for the contest as well. And why I want this prize that much????... well ladies... it is $200 dollars worth in MFT products and you are a guest designer for a month!!!. I love MFT, they have great products so I encourage you to visit their website and play their challenges. I learned so much since then. This time the challenge is to "Paper Pierce" your project. I love this dress from MFT A la mode stamps, I think is great for this technique. Ok... here is my card:

For this card I used:

Cardstock: Cream and Black from Recollections
Designer paper: Love Letter from SU and the dress is from Times and Seasons from EP
Stamp: MFT A la mode "Cheers"
Accessories: Prima Donna Petals die from MFT, black brads from Hobby Lobby, Felt from Fabricland, stones from Recollections, sewing machine, Copic markers to colour the image and Memento Tuxedo Black ink to ink it.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!

Happy Day!!!

Hello everyone!!!. I'm back!!!. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Mine was perfect. For the first time my sons spent some of their money to buy presents for mom and dad. That was another sign for me that they are growing. The presents were very thoughtful and I cried like a little girl. It was perfect!!!. Now we are ready to say goodbye to this year and welcome the next one.
This time I made this card for two challenges: The MFT Wednesday challenge and the MFT Guest Designer contest. This is not the perfect card for the contest though but it has what it request to have "Paper Piercing" so I'll enter it. I'll try to do another one later especially for the contest.

Here is the card and the sketch for this Wednesday challenge:

Happy Christmas Eve and Happy Birthday MOM!!!

Happy Christmas Eve everyone!!!. I hope you have a very merry, blessed Christmas. Today also is my Mom's Birthday. She is turning 77 years old. She is very far away from me. I'm on the very top of the continent, she is in the very bottom, but my heart is with her today. She is the reason why I am who I am and the best friend I ever had. She was there for me ALWAYS, in every single sad moment and in every single happy one. I always made sure she knows what she means to me. She will be here soon though, in February, but today we are apart and that is not happy. MOM I WISH YOU A VERY BLESSED AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Te amo con todo mi corazon y espero que pases un muy feliz cumpleanos. Pronto vamos a estar juntas tomando mate y viendo fotos. Falta poco. Te esperamos con los brazos abiertos!!! Tu totonita.

My mom at six!!!

My mom and me!!!

Have a wonderful day!!!

My next two posts are going to my two friends at Tae Kwon Do. One is a purple belt and her b-day is coming this week and the other one is a black belt and she helped me through this three past years. This first card is also the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #148:

 Here is the card:

The purple belt doesn't go with anything in the card but she is a purple belt and I didn't want to change it. You may think why I didn't make a card with purple colours then???... well I don't like purple that much :(. I think it turned good though.

Paper Princess Sunday Challenge and... I'M A TKD BLACK BELT!!!!

Hello everyone. It is Sunday and the paper Princesses have another challenge to show. This time we had to make a "side step card". I have never done one before and to my surprise it wasn't difficult at all. It had to be Christmas or winter oriented.  This is the last Christmas card that I made this season to give away. I will make more once my Christmas order arrives, but I'll use them next year, too late now!!!. I can say today that I'm ready for the holidays:

Decorations: check!
Tree: check!
Presents: check!
Organizations for the 24th and the 31st: check!
TAE KWON DO BLACK BELT TEST before the holidays: PRICELESS!!! CHECK, CHECK CHEK!!!

Sorry to interrupt my post with this Tae Kwon Do news, but it is a satisfaction that I've been training and waiting for three years, and to have reached this goal at "40" it is a double satisfaction for me. We are a Tae Kwon Do family. My oldest son is black belt, now me, and my second son is getting it next year. I'm very proud and I wanted to share it with my followers and people that visit my blog. Thanks for looking!!!. I promise my card post is after my pictures!!!

Me in my new uniform!!!!

Paper Princess Sunday Challenge

Hi there!!!. It is late this Sunday night... but it is still Sunday. Between Christmas Program at church, buying the Christmas tree (FINALLY!!!), decorating it and doing some shopping I forgot to post it this morning. Our Paper Princess Ann Marie challenged us with this picture of a bag. We had to do a project, card, etc. using this colours or inspiration. To see the other princesses's projects please visit them. They are located at the right side of my blog under "Paper Princess Sisterhood".

I really liked the bag, but for some reason putting this colours together was a real challenge for me. Well I'm happy with the result tough. I tried as well Kitti Caracciolo's technique. I love her cards as I mentioned it before. This is also my first attempt to do a card like hers. Please visit her blog as well. She has awesome cards www.kittiekraft.typepad.com/kittiekraft/ . Well here is my card:

For this card I used:

Cardstock:  Whisper White, Green Galore and Pink Passion from SU
Designer Paper: Nana's Nursery Baby Boy from DCWV
Stamp: Being cute is what I do from MFT
Accessories: flower: Prima Donna Petals die from MFT, Martha Stewart's punch for the branches, Rhinestone from SU, Copic markers to colour the stamp and Memento Tuxedo Black to ink it. Holly Santa!!!

Good morning. I'm happy finishing my Christmas cards. I really enjoyed to make cards this year. I learned lots of new stuff that I used in my cards and they looked way better than last year ones. This card is for another MFT wednesday Challenge. Here is the sketch:

I made four of them. At this point I have to make several of the same card, it is easier and faster and I don't have enough time to make one per person in my list. Here is the card:

Ok, I have to say, I bought the Mistletoe punch from Martha Stewart yesterday at Walmart and I thought it wouldn't look that good, but I wanted a Christmasy punch to go with a flower or snowflake... well... I'm in love with it. Here is a close up of how I used it:

I don't know if you can tell but I also love to pierced my cards. I'm trying so hard with the sewing machine but I'm not that good so I pierce them. Here is a close up of it:

I know it is a lot of work but I love how the cards look with it. I didn't do that to the four cards, only the one that goes for the challenge. Sorry, but I don't have much time :).

For this card I used:

Cardstock: Whisper White and Cherry Cobler from SU
Designer Paper: O' Christmas Tree form Recollections
Stamps: From the old stamp set "Ho Ho Holidays" from SU
Accessories: Martha Stewart snowflake and mistletoe punches, brads from Michael's and a button from I don't know and of course the piercing tool from SU. Copic Markers for colouring and Memento Tuxedo Black ink to ink the image.

I was visiting my favourite blogs yesterday and find a card by Vicky Burdick that I love, and wanted to do something similar, well it is quite similar to tell you the truth but you want to learn from the good ones right???. I think her cards are beautiful. I have lots of favourite ladies out there in the stamping world and she is one of them. If you want to check her blog it in on my right side of the blog under "It's a stamp thing".  Here is mine:

For this card I used:

Cardstock: Cherry Cobler, Old Olive and Whisper White from SU

For my Joaco!!!

It feels like it has been forever since I don't post something, but well it is DECEMBER, Holidays season. I didn't finish my Christmas cards and I'm still going to feel like a taxi drive from now till the Christmas break, school, sports activities, church!!! Today I'm posting my birthday boy's card and I'll be taking the opportunity to complete some challenges.

This card will go to the December My Favourite Things Guest Designer Challenge, this time we've been challenged to use tags and for the Simon says challenge about "Stars". Originally this card was going to have three stars on one corner but when I tried it, it looked very crowded. The paper and the brads have stars so it counts.

For this card I used:

Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Whisper White and Baja Breeze from SU
Designer Paper: "Blink of an eye" from My mind's eye.
Stamps: Playtime turtles
Accessories: Hodgepodge Hardware Very Vanilla brads from SU, Copic Markers to colour the image and Memento Tuxedo Black ink to ink it. Cricut Machine for the tag, Paper piercing tool from SU, Sewing machine and Twill tape for the tag.

Paper Princess Weekly Challenge

This card is for the Paper Princess Blog Sisters's first challenge. You can see our other Sisters's creations on my side bar under Paper Princess Sisterhood. Just visit them and leave us some comments. We love your opinions.
This challenge was about being thankful. We had to make anything we would like but the requirement  was to use orange in our creation. I made a scrapbook page and I"m dedicating it to my husband. We have been married for sixteen years and we have three beautiful boys together. He is always on my side, in good and bad times. He spoils me, loves me, takes care of me and he demonstrated that I am the love of his life. Yes... I know it sounds too good... we had our bad moments as well but the important thing is to count only the good ones and in this page I'm showing the "Three Best Moments of our Lives". "Thank You Pa..."

Baby Jesus

...You see them when they are babies not having any idea what life would bring them... Well in this case His mother knew...not probably the whole thing at the beginning, but she knew that life for her little baby was not going to be easy. What an extraordinary role she played...and He was there...sleeping, not having a clue...only covered with LOVE.
This card is for the Viva la Verve 4th week Sketch Challenge. It was a hard sketch but I loved it. This was a little more challenging than the ones that I have been trying but I love the result. I paper pierced (I guess is that what you call the technique) the cloth that is covering Baby Jesus and I sponge the shape with Crumb cake ink, love that touch too. I didn't use the bow, I thought I didn't have enough place and would look crowded.

For this card I used:

Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White from SU
Designer Paper: Lost and Found Christmas from My mind's eye
Stamps: Curly Cute and Miracle of Christmas from SU
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black to ink the image and Chocolate Chip from SU for the sentiment
Accessories::Brads from the Hodgepodge Hardware embellishment kit, Spellbinders and Photo corner punch from SU. Ribbon taffeta Chocolate chip from SU as well and I pierced the paper with the piercing kit from SU.

Hugs from Frosty

Happy Thanksgiving for everyone in the States. I'm from Canada so I had my turkey last month with my family and friends here at my house. Since we are all from South America we were very happy and thankful that we could be together and having fun. When you have your family so far away, friends fill a huge space in the heart. We laugh, we ate and ate and ate and now we are looking forward to Christmas to do it all over again. Nobody is flying back home this year so we'll be celebrating together. Here is another Christmas card that will go for someone of my friends this holidays.

MY PAPERS ARRIVED!!!. Finally I can make Christmas cards not feeling tired of the same paper over and over. I made this card for the Viva la Verve sketch challenge (see below).I learned that pasting a little border of a darker card stock between layers makes the card look more nicely finished, so I tried that and I really like it. I'm not sure about the two different ribbons though but since they are completely different it doesn't bother me that much.  What I really like is that doing different challenges helped me used different stamps, some are so old and I'm happy to be using them again. I end up always using the last ones that I purchased but different challenges ask for different things so lately I'm using lots and I'm happy :). For this card I used:

Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Old Olive and Real Red from SU
Designer Paper: 12 days of Christmas from My Mind's eye
Stamps: Frosty from SU
Accessories: Rhinestones from the Pretties Kit, Red Ridding Hood Stripped ribbon and Very Vanilla taffeta Ribbon all from SU. Copic Markers to colour the image and Memento Tuxedo Black to ink it.

I made this card thinking of my friend Renate. She is going through a difficult time with her terminally ill sister. She hasn't been in church for the a while because she is taking care of her. For this card I used:

Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White from SU
Designer Paper: Breeze from Lost and Found Two, by Jen Allyson
Stamps: Being Cute is what I do from MFT and the sentiment is Curly Cute from SU
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black to ink the image and Chocolate Chip for the sentiment
Embelishments: Pearl in the flower from the Pretties Kit from SU and Adhesive Pearls from Recollections
Others: Rolled Rose die from MFT, SU scallop punch, Sewing machine, Paper Piercing Kit from SU and Twill Tape from SU as well. I used Copic Markers to colour the image.

Angels among us...

IT IS SNOWING!!!. Good Wednesday everybody. It is snowing here in the west and it doesn't surprise me, I was so cold this morning when I took the kids to school!!!. Perfect day to be in my craft room making some cards. Although I want only to make Christmas cards right now (not much time left and lots still to do), this didn't turn as planed. I just wanted to do a challenge and the sketch wasn't telling me Christmas at all, but I still like it. I don't know what I would do without challenges and sketches. They help me so much. My creativity and my techniques improved a lot since I started doing challenges. You start watching other ladies cards and learn lots. I learned so much since I became a Splitcoaststamper's member. There is tons of ideas and techniques and videos, etc. Thank you to all the ladies that inspire me every day.

This is a card for the Mojo Monday Challenge (sketch below). For this card I used:

Cardstock: Very Vanilla and Soft Suede from SU
Designer Paper: Life's Journey from K&Company
Embellishments: Pearls from the Pretties Kit from SU
Ink: Chocolate chip from SU
Others: Sewing machine, Prima Donna Petals die from MFT and Pierce kit from SU.

Frosty again!!!

I thought I didn't have enough Christmas Designer Paper for my Christmas cards, well after visiting lots of blogs and seeing lots of different cards I thought...the paper doesn't have to have snowflakes or candy canes to be Christmasy so I tried something different. I still want to play in challenges but I thought what am I going to do till I receive my order with my Christmas paper?... I used this Afternoon Tea paper that doesn't have any Christmasy image whatsoever and I like it!!! with my always beloved snowflake punch and this pretty snowman I think I made it. Leave a comment and just let me know what you think!!!. I love comments!!!

This card if for two challenges "Viva la Verve" week 2 (sketch below) and "Unity Challenge": Let it snow.  For this card I used:

Cardstock: Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip from SU
Designer series paper: Afternoon Tea from SU
Ribbon: Double Stitched Grosgrain Baja Breeze from SU
Stamp: Snow Much Fun from SU
Spellbinders: Labels 16 and Standard circles
Embellishments: Martha Stewart snowflake punch, brads from Michaels, Rhinstone from the Prettiest kit from SU.
Others: Copic Markers to colour the image and Memento Tuxedo Black to ink it. Pierced tools from SU.

8th grader

Ok, kind of dark but I took the pictures with my phone in a very dark auditorium and they were looking so bad that I had to make them black and white, and I also love this paper, although in the picture doesn't look as nice as the "live" version. This page is for the Creative Scrappers challenge, the sketch is below. I used Love Letter design paper from SU. the stamps are: balls: Sporting goods, alphabets: Varsity and Simple Type all from SU. the Music dies are from MFT. I used Pumpkin Pie ink for the title, Memento Tuxedo Black to ink the basketballs and Copic Markers to colour them.

My COOL friend

Flourishes "Sweetest Noon Time Challenge"

Ok... what can I do... still waiting for my Christmas papers, but if I continue making Christmas cards I am going to be done before they arrive. I ordered them at the beginning of the month so probably they will arrive by the end of this month. Not enough time!!!. As you may noticed I am in love with the snowflake punch... and when I bought them I thought I wasn't going to use them that much, they are from Martha Stewart. The paper for this card... I shouldn't say it, if you follow my blog you should know by now :) ..."Dashing" from SU and Whisper White, Real Red and Old Olive. I tried my sewing here, but I hated it so I was going to throw this card away, but then I though it doesn't look that  bad. This time the challenge is  "Red, White and Soft Green". The stamp is Snow Much Fun from SU as well as the brads. I used Copic Markers to colour the image previously inked with Memento Tuxedo Black, and spellbinders for my shape. Thanks for looking and please leave a comment, I love them!!!.

Here is the image we should be inspired by:

Flaky Friends

I am a fan of KittieKraft's blog. She has amazing cards, she puts so much detail on her cards and something she does a lot are this windows on them. So I said... I really want to try this technique, I really love it. After watching her tutorials I found out it is easier than I though and I tried it. It is not hard but I found out that the window is not very noticeable, I should have used taller pop dots, anyways, I'm happy with the result. For this card I used Old Olive, Real Red and Whisper White card stock from SU, "Dashing" design paper for the snowflakes as well as Martha Stewart snowflake punch, SU brads. The stamp is from the Flaky Friends set from SU and I colour the image with Copic Markers after I ink it with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Here is Kittie's blog if you want to check it out... http://kittiekraft.typepad.com/kittiekraft/

Santa Dear!!!

This card is for the "Viva La Verve" sketch challenge, see the sketch below. I used Old Olive, Real Red and Whisper White card stock from SU aaaand..... YES...the same design paper, again!!!...unbelievable the amount of cards I made with that stack of paper!!!..."Dashing" from SU. I used Circle Spellbinders for the shapes and Martha Stewart snowflake punch (LOVE IT), Copic Markers to colour it and I paper pierced the card this time after finding out that I'm not good friends with my sewing machine and I was running out of the Dashing paper (not much room to practice :)). I have a new friend now... My hot glue gun :), I didn't get use to it, but after a while my embellishments were falling apart soooo.... there it is!!!

Here is the sketch for this week:

Him with His Mother

Today I was leaving a comment on Melina's blog from my "Crafty Gals" about Scrapbooking being a sad art. Well I agree 100%. You are pasting, choosing, cropping and decorating pictures of your kids all the time when they were little, at a especial occasion, with the most beautiful faces, in fact, if you choose a picture of your kid to scrapbook it is because is beautiful and meant to put on an album... and then I made this card for the Flourishes challenge and can't stop but thinking in this particular mother...!!!. We all suffer when we see them growing, leaving. Don't you ever think of what SHE felt?????.  My prayers and admiration for all those woman that suffered and suffer every day. For sure you have a "Especial Place" in Heaven. All my love!!!...
This card is for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge #143 "Double Embossing". It was a hard technique for me but I guess I did it. You can go HERE to the Splitcoasstampers tutorial to see how to make this technique.  For this card I used Crumb Cake and Whisper White card stock from SU, a very old stamp set also from SU but I don't have the name :( sorry!!, SU pearls from the kit "Prettiest Kit", "Kassie's"embossing folder from Cuttlebug, Spellbinder Nestabilities Label Four, the flowers  are from MFT dies "Prima Donna Petals". I sponged the centre of the card with Crumb Cake ink pad from SU and embossed the image with gold embossing powder from WalMart. :)

Monday 7 November 2011

HO HO HO!!!

AGAIN...the same design paper... I'm kind of tired but still waiting for the Christmas paper order to arrive. This card is for the Mojo Monday Challenge # 214. I used again "Dashing" design paper, Whisper White and Real Red Cardstock from SU. Real Red ink and SU brads. For the snowflake I used the Martha Stewart punch and for the first time I sew my card. This one was the third that I made... I'm not good at sewing that is why I used to pierce the paper by hand.  I'm not happy with the sewing in this card but to tell you the truth I didn't want to use the last piece of Christmas paper left on another try ;)

Birthday Boy!!!

Finally a post. I didn't do much this weekend and it seems that I wasn't here in ages!!!. this scrapbook page is for the Creative Scrappers Sketch #180. For this page I used Cool Caribbean, Whisper White and Pumpkin Pie card stock from SU and Design paper "Spring Break" from SU as well. Star punch from SU and Cricut machine for the shapes. The title is made with Alpha Dots stamps from MFT. The inks that I used for the letter are Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Not Quite Navy from SU. I usually don't scrap with plain paper as a background but I cannot think of more sketches, that is why I started with this challenges, they help a lot with my imagination. I think it didn't turn that bad, although I keep thinking is missing something...

Friday 4 November 2011

Harvest Time!!!

This card is for the Unity Challenge "Autumn Harvest". For this card I used Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla and Whisper White card stock from SU. The design paper is from SU as well, but it was in the clearance rack some months ago and I don't remember the name. I used Memento Tuxedo Black to ink the images and Copic Markers to colour them, Spellbinders for the shapes, Perfect Polka dot embossing folder from SU and the "Fall Whimsy" stamp set also from SU as well as the ribbon. I bought the metal photo corners embellishments at Ebay long time ago so I don't remember anything about them, I hope you like it!!!.

Wednesday 2 November 2011

Baby Jesus and Mom

This card is for the Wednesday Stamp Club challenge #44, and for the Dolce Stamps and Cards thursday Challenge. I don't have any MFT or Dolce Christmas stamps yet so I used this old stamp from "Madonna and Child" set from SU. I don't have any more Christmas paper either (I'm waiting for my order to arrive), so the paper is still "Dashing" from SU like all the cards I've been posting lately!!!. pearls are from Michael's, Ribbon is from SU and the card stock is Whisper White and Very Vanilla from SU as well. The embossing folder is "Perfect Polka Dots" and the scallop punch is from SU. I used Copic Markers to colour, though I'm not that happy with the colouring this time :(, and I used Spellbinder Scallop for the oval.

Tuesday 1 November 2011

Fancy Snowflakes

This card is for the Flourishes challenge "Out of the box technique". I know... snowflakes again but I just bought them and I love them, and I also know... piercing the card is my thing, I can't help it, it gives the card a finishing touch. for this card I used Whisper white, Real Red and DP "Dashing". All the products that I used for this card are SU, except the ribbon that I bought at WalMart long time ago. I colour the image with Copic Markers and I used spellbinders for the shapes. I really love this technique. You can visit the Flourishes website in the challenge section or click "Out of the box technique" in YouTube. If I wanted the image to go out of the shape, I used to double stamp the image and paste the second one on top of the first one, but this technique is much easier.
